Methodology Tandem Mass Spectrometry (MS/MS) 
Description Useful for evaluation of patients with a clinical suspicion of a wide range of inborn errors of metabolism, especially organic acidemias and fatty acid oxidation disorders including primary carnitine deficiency. 
Specimen Draw blood in a plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube. Spin down and send 0.5 mL (minimum: 0.2 mL) of serum FROZEN in plastic vial.
NOTE:
1. THIS ASSAY MUST HAVE ITS OWN SEPARATE FROZEN
VIAL.
2. Patient's age is required.
